In His Shoes explores the idea of empathy and the ability to truly step into someone else’s experience.

In the scene, the boy covers one of his eyes to experience the world as the crow beside him does — a crow that has lost an eye. Through this symbolic gesture, the painting invites the viewer to move beyond observation and attempt, even for a moment, to feel what another being experiences every day.

Inspired by a deeply personal experience and by a powerful lesson learned from my son, the piece reminds us that behind different behaviors, unexpected reactions, or difficult silences, there may be invisible battles.

In His Shoes invites us to look with greater compassion, suspend judgment, and remember that true empathy begins when we are willing to see the world through another’s perspective.
